Since 1989, before establishment of the Shahrekord University, a higher education in natural resources had been already conducted by a department under what called Natural Resources at the college with a same name. At that time the college was offering associate degrees, endorsed by a higher education center. Later the institution has been granted university status and for the first time the faculty of agriculture has established. Two years after that point, in 2004, the department of natural resources department has set up. This department had a focus on watershed management. In 2006, the Department of Natural Resources was broken down into two departments namely rangeland -watershed management and forest science recepting BSc students in that undergraduate academic degree. Shortly after the department lunched its MSc programs. In 2009 a new department named “Fisheries and Environmental Science” was started. Other programs such as petrology and environmental science has been added. Currently the Faculty employs 31 fulltime academic staff, teaching at BSc., MSc. and Ph.D.programs.
