The Materials Engineering Department at Shahrekord University was established in 2004, initially offering a bachelor’s program in Ceramics Engineering. This marked the university’s first step into the field of materials science, focusing on ceramic materials and their applications.
In 2010, the department expanded to include graduate programs, allowing students to pursue advanced studies in ceramics engineering. Recognizing the growing demand for expertise in metallurgy, the university introduced Industrial Metallurgy as a new undergraduate major in 2012, followed by a graduate program in 2013.
Over the years, the department has continued to evolve, incorporating materials selection, corrosion protection, and electroceramics into its curriculum. From Fall 2024, the undergraduate program will transition to Materials Science and Engineering, broadening its scope to include polymers, composites, semiconductors, and nanomaterials.
Shahrekord University’s commitment to materials engineering is reflected in its state-of-the-art laboratories, faculty expertise, and industry collaborations, ensuring students receive a comprehensive education in materials science and engineering.
